Hey girls! Well, I'm just bursting with love today (maybe due to a couple of sales I made! I'm doing the sale dance right now!) 

¡Hola chicas! Pues el día de hoy estoy derrochando amor (tal vez tenga que ver con que hice un par de ventas, ¡estoy haciendo el sale dance ahora mismo, oh sí!)

The thing is....I read all your lovely comments each day and you can't imagine how they cheer me up! I just wanted to thank you for that; I have the best blog readers ever!! It's true you know, trying to make a craft business requires lots of courage and hard work. Some days I just feel like quitting, I start having negative thoughts and a general shitty feeling to be honest. But then, when someone new likes my facebook page (I'm about to reach 300 now!), when someone favorites the shop, I feel I must be doing something right, at least something! But nothing makes me feel happier than blog comments. Realizing you take a moment of your time to actually write something nice to me or tell me your opinion on anything makes me feel so good...It’s simply great, nothing beats that and you all fellow bloggers know what I mean. So, THANK YOU!!

Bueno, la cosa es que leo sus comentarios cada día y no se imaginan cuánto ánimo me dan! Sólo quería agradecerles por esto, ¡tengo las mejores lectoras del mundo! La verdad, tratar de hacer un negocio de un hobby como tejer requiere de mucho valor y trabajo duro. Hay días que simplemente quiero tirar la toalla, empiezo a tener pensamientos negativos y en general me siento como caca para ser honesta jaja. Pero luego cuando tengo un nuevo like en la página de facebook (¡que ya va casi por los 300!), cuando alguien le da corazoncito a mi tienda, entonces siento que debo estar haciendo algo bien, ¡al menos algo! Pero nada, nada me da más alegría que los comentarios en el blog. El hecho de que se tomen un momento de su tiempo para decirme algo lindo o darme su opinión simplemente se siente taan bien...es genial, nada le gana y ustedes las blogueras saben de qué hablo. Así que ¡¡¡GRACIAS!!!

Les preparé un patrón para disfrutar nuestros últimos momentos de este verano....El "motivo sol", o "carpetita sol", perfecta como apliqué.

Hello my friends! Well, my sunny days are about to end as I leave on Tuesday to Mexico City and then back to Oaxaca. I'm enjoying my last couple of days in the caribbean seashore a lot! I've prepared a pattern for you, to enjoy our last moments of this summer....The sun doily, perfect as apliqué.

Abreviaturas:

c - cadena

mp - medio punto

pl - pilar (vareta o punto alto)

2 pl jun - dos pilares juntos (aquí hay un video donde muestran cómo hacerlos)

p desl - punto deslizado (o punto enano)

1era vuelta: hacer anillo mágico con 12 mp. (aquí hay un video de como hacer un anillo mágico), p desl en 1er mp.

2da vuelta: 3 c, 1 pl en el mismo lugar (cuentan como 2 pl jun). [3c, 2 pl jun en mp siguiente] x 11. 3 c, p desl en 3er cadena de primeras 3 c.

3era vuelta: p desl en en 2 c siguientes, 1c, 1 mp en el mismo lugar. [4c, 1 mp en arco de 3c siguientes] x 11. 4 c, p desl en 1er mp.

4ta vuelta: 1c, *[2mp, 3c, 2mp] todo en arco de 4 cadenas siguiente. ; repetir desde * 11 veces, p desl en 1er medio punto. Rematar.

Abbreviations:

Rain Art

Para serles sincera, he tenido unas vacaciones medio de locura....He disfrutado muchísimo ver el mar y a mis padres pero también he trabajado mucho porque estoy dando un taller toda esta semana y además voy a estar en una exhibición el jueves. Estoy muy contenta por todas las cosas maravillosas que están sucediendo, pero también algo cansada. Creo que voy a necesitar un buen descanso para reponerme de estas vacaciones...uff....

To tell you the truth, I've been having a crazy holiday.... I've enjoyed the beach and my parents a lot but have also worked very hard as I'm giving a workshop this whole week and I'm also gonna be in an exhibit on Thursday. I'm very happy for all the beautiful things that are happening, but I'm also quite tired. I guess I'll need a time off to settle down after this holiday...gee...

Pero como les decía, estoy tan feliz por la expo que viene el jueves....Es una muestra de arte y diseño y se llama Rain Art (lluvia de arte), ¿no es genial?...Estoy segura de que va a ser un buen evento. Estoy bastante nerviosa también porque ésta es la primera vez que voy a mostrar mi joyería de crochet en Cancún, así que ¡deseenme suerte! Va a ser una noche maravillosa y muy versátil también, va a haber pintura, escultura, vinil toys, diseño gráfico, fotografía, un bailarín urbano, lectura de poesía con performance, ¡y la joyería textil de Caracol handmade! Ah y también va a haber canapés y algo de beber, ¿qué más se puede pedir? jaja Mucha diversidad :) Me encanta la idea, nunca he estado en una muestra de este tipo, normalmente las expoventas o ferias de diseño a las que ido no tienen un programa así. Mi amiga Liz Barrera diseñó el poster, es genial ¿no?

But, as I was saying, I'm so happy for the showroom that's comming on Thursday... Itll be an art and design showroom and it's called Rain Art, isn't it beautiful?.... I'm sure it's gonna be a wonderful event. I'm quite nervous too, cause this'll be the first time I show my crochet jewelry in Cancun, so wish me luck, please! It looks like it'll be a wonderful night and a very versatile one too, there are going to be paintings, sculptures, vinil toys, graphic design, photography, an urban dancer, and poetry reading with performance too, and Carcacol's handmade's jewelry! Oh and catering...couldn't ask for anything better! haha....A lot of diversity :) I'm loving the idea, I've never been to an exhibition like that, normally the showrooms or craft fairs I go to don't have such a  program. My friend Liz Barrera designed the poster, isn't it great?

Un poco cursi y qué....

Extraño mucho a Ricardo....me acuerdo cuando estuvimos juntos aquí en casa de mis papás en la navidad de 2010....la playa es genial, pero no es lo mismo que si estuviéramos juntos...Sí, estoy siendo "romántica" y qué...jaja

I miss Ricardo a lot...I remember when we were here at my parents house during christmas in 2010....The beach is great, but it isn't the same as if we were here together...Yes, I'm being "romantic", what the hell...haha

Obviamente para cuando tomamos esta foto ya habíamos pasado varios días como lagartijas bajo el sol, ahora no estoy logrando ese tono....¡pero todavía tengo días suficientes!

Obviously we had spent a lot of days like lizzards under the sun by the time we took this picture, I haven't reach this tan now...but I still have enough days!

Bueno, la verdad ya tengo muchas ganas de verlo otra vez....les dejo un par videos donde él toca la batería (es músico de jazz). Lo único que no extraño son las horas, literal, HORAS diarias de estudio y alumnos de batería en la casa....pero bueno, cada día me hago un poco más zen.

Well, to tell you the truth I really want to see him again...I leave you a couple of videos where he's playing the drums (he's a jazz musician). The only thing I don't miss are the hours, literally, daily HOURS of study or drums students in our home.... well, I become a little more zen day by day.

Hi! It's been over a week since I arrived to the Caribbean Seaside. You can't imagine the amazing colors of the ocean; I made a necklace the other day, and the seaside inspiration just bursted out without me even noticing. I took some pictures, ... I hope you like it.

Here is the full outfit for today. My hair has been a disaster since I arrived here, the salty water and the humidity have turned it into an uncontrollable monster, it's been 10 days of total anarchy. I stopped fighting with it, I let it sponge and get meshed happily.

1. Estudié en un colegio alemán así que hablo el idioma desde los 4 años

    I went to a german shool so I speak the language since I was 4.

2. Estudié durante 3 años arquitectura, y luego lo dejé porque no quería ser arquitecta.

    I studied architecture for 3 years and then dropped out cause I didn't want to be an architect.

3. Aparte de ser tejedora obsesiva también soy artista visual 

    I'm also a visual artist (besides being an obsessive crocheter)

4. Estoy estudiando una especialización en arte contemporáneo.

    I'm studing a minor in contemporary art

5. Ricardo, mi novio y compañero de la vida es 14 años mayor que yo.

   Ricardo, my boyfriend and live partner is 14 years older than me.

6. Me rasco en momentos de tensión, y bueno, también en momentos de no-tensión, es un tic.

   I get itchy and scratch when nervous, well, also when I'm not nervous, it's a tic.

7. He vivido en muchas casas diferentes, muchas.

The One Stripe Bag!

¿Se acuerdan de esto? Pues está terminado....

Remember this? Well, it's done...

Es un bolso que hice para el CAL del blog Arriba en el Desván. Había un patrón a seguir, pero bueno, yo acabé modificando todo. Primero la base, que al principio no entendía muy bien el patrón, así que la cambié. Luego me di cuenta que mi confusión era una tontería pero, ya había empezado mi propia base y no variaba demasiado tampoco.

It's a bag I made for a CAL in the blog Arriba en el Desván. There was a pattern to follow but I ended up changing it all. First, I changed the base because I didn't quite understand the pattern, so I started my own. After a while I realized my confusion was actually a silliness but I had already started my  base and it wasn't that different either.

La segunda cosa que modifiqué fue el tamaño, la hice mucho más larga de lo que era. 

También hice las rayas que no estaban en el patrón original.

The second thing I changed was the size, I made it a lot bigger than it should have been.

I also made the stripes that weren't in the original pattern.

Por último cambié las asas. En vez de tejidas le puse unas asas de cuero que mi amigo hippie alemán Hermann le cosió. Hace mucho que quería hacer una bolsa de crochet con asas de cuero y aproveché la ocasión. Al final lo único que conservé del patrón fue la puntada.

At the end I changed the handles. Istead of crocheting them I figured out some genuine leather would look great. My hippie german friend Hermann helped me sewing them. I wanted to do a crochet bag with leather handles for a long time now and I took the opportunity. At the end the only thing in the pattern I followed was the stitch.

¿No es maravillosa? A mi me encantó, le llamé la One Stripe Bag (Bolso de una raya) me gusta muchísimo la combinación del estambre con el cuero. Estoy preparando la nueva colección Caracol con estos dos materiales. 

Isn't it wonderful? I loved it! I called it The One Stripe Bag. I really like the combination of yarn and leather. I'm preparing Caracol's new collection with these materials.

Me gustó tanto que me puse a ver cómo combinarlo. ¿Qué opinan?

En el mar la vida es más sabrosa...

Por fin llegué a casa de mis padres ayer. Hoy tuve un lindo día, disfruté la vista al mar, aproveché para tomar algunas fotos, salí a caminar en la arena......Me desperté y estaba nublado, pero luego salió el sol y me dio un gusto ver el mar que no se imaginan, la vida en el mar es más sabrosa. Por eso me inspiré y les hice este fondo de computadora (wallpaper) para descargar.

I finally arrived at my parents house yesterday. I had a nice day today, I enjoyed the ocean view, took some photos, went out for a walk on the beach....It was very cloudy when I woke up, but then the sun came out and you can't imagine how glad I was to see the ocean....Life is beautiful with an ocean view. I got inspired and made this wallpaper for you to download.

Christmas in July!

¡Hola, hola! Pues hoy les tengo un par de buenas noticias. Primero, en Etsy hay algo que se llama Christmas in July, es decir Navidad en julio, y básicamente se trata de hacer ofertones en el mes de julio. Y yo como acabo de empezar con la tienda en Etsy y no me pienso quedar atrás, ¡estoy ofreciendo 10% DE DESCUENTO en toda la tienda hasta el 31 de julio!

Hi there! Today I have a couple of good news. First, there is something going on in Etsy called Christmas in July, it's a sale which consists basically in shop owners offering discounts or free shippings! As I have just opened my Esty shop and don't wanna be left behind, I'll be offering 10% OFF in the whole store till July 31!!

La otra buena nueva es ¡que me voy a la playa! Oh sí, me voy a ver el mar y a mis padres que viven en la costa caribeña, a unos 20 min de Cancún, ya verán qué lugar más maravilloso... ¿Por que no se creerán que voy a dejar de bloguear, verdad? ¡No!, antes muerta que sencilla y que abandonar mi blog. Seguiré manteniendo el blog y la tienda de manera normal, como voy a estar en casa de mis padres puedo hacer envíos desde ahí sin problema. Además les escribiré con vista al mar, qué rico. El sábado me voy a la Ciudad de México y el martes vuelo a Cancún. Así que tal vez regrese hasta el miércoles al blog, sólo voy a estar al pendiente de la tienda en estos días.

The other good news is that I'm going to the beach!! Oh yeah! I'm going to see the ocean and my parents who live in the caribbean seashore, about 20min away from Cancun, you'll see what a lovely place... Cause you're not thinking I'm leaving my blog, are you? No way! I'll keep the blog and the shop running, and as I'm going to be at my parents house I can still make shippings without any trouble. Besides, I'll write you with an ocean view, how wonderful. I leave to Mexico City on saturday and to Cancun on tuesday, so I'll might be away from the blog till wednesday, I'm only gonna check on the shop these days.

Lo único malo de esto es que me voy solita y extrañaré mucho a mi querido Ricardo y mi adorada Mimiringa, espero que sobrevivan....Mimiri tiene un gran instinto, me tiene sin ciudado, pero Richard....jajaja Ay, me hubiera gustado llevármelos a los dos pero no se pudo :(

The only bad thing about all this is that I'm travelling alone, I'm gonna miss my lovely Ricardo and my adorable Mimiringa a lot. I hope they survive....Mimiri has a great instict, I don't worry about her but Richard.....haha I wish they'd have come along  with me but we couldn't...:(

No todo es amargura en este mundo....

Not everything is bitterness in this world....

Si ya estaba teniendo una semana enloquecida, terminó por culminar en desastre. Este domingo 1ero de julio hubo elecciones para presidente en nuestro país, con un proceso lleno de irregularidades, y un impresionante cerco mediático, los mexicanos vivimos, una vez más, un grotesco remedo de la democracia. No puedo expresarles mi frustración, así que no lo intentaré, mejor les dejo este artículo de The Guardian UK por si les interesa.

If I was having a crazy week already, it ended up in desaster. This sunday 1st of july we had president elections in our country, in a process filled with irregularites and an amazing media siege, the mexican peole lived, once again, a grotesque imitation of democracy. I can't express my frustration so I won't even try it, I leave you with this article of The Guardian UK if you're intrested.

Además mi blog es un espacio que me llena de alegría así que me curaré la depresión post-electoral diciéndoles que ¡no todo es amargura en este mundo! Para empezar, el domingo hubo futbol. España ganó la eurocopa, por lo menos hubo algo de emoción y festividad en esta casa porque el espíritu gallego y futbolero de Ricardo estaba a todo florecer y yo muy contenta empecé a tejer esto mientras el gritaba gooooooool una y otra vez.

Besides, my blog is a space that fills me with joy so I'm gonna cure my post-election depression by telling you that not everything is bitterness in this world!! To begin with this statement, sunday was soccer day. Spain won the eurocup and at least there was a bit of happiness and excitement in this house. Ricardo's Galician and soccerlover spirit was blooming, and I happily started crocheting this while he was screaming goooooooaaaal once and again.

Hasta ahora he tenido una semana enloquecida.

Entre otras cosas aprendí una técnica textil tradicional mexicana,
mandé MUCHOS mails,
fui a una reunión,
diseñé un cartel para un centro de yoga,
contacté a una bloguera,
tomé un café con una amiga,
compré un hermoso estambre de algodón que se enredó horriblemente y que me llevó HORAS ovillar,
empecé a tejer un coralito nuevo,
hice aretes,
seguí con la obsesión neon,
tomé fotos,
me dolieron las muñecas,
me dolió la espalda,
casi me dolieron hasta las pestañas,
amé el rosa salmón,
cambié el fondo del blog,
empecé un blogroll,
grité como doña cuando Mimiri metió un ratón a la casa y observé a Ricardo rescatar al ratón mientras yo me comía las uñas de angustia,
compré más estambre,
preparé un desabrido salteado de hogos,
llegué tarde a clase de yoga,
olvidé un millón de cosas,
y ya mejor no sigo ¡que me agobio!

I've been having a crazy week till now.


Among other things I learned a traditional weaving mexican technique,
I sent A LOT of emails,
went to a meeting,
designed a poster for a yoga studio,
contacted a blogger,
had a coffee with a friend,
bought a beautiful cotton yarn that got terribly entangled and took me HOURS to wind,
I started to crochet a little  new reef,
made some earings,
kept on with the neon obsession,
took photos,
got a wristache, 
got a backache,
almost got a lashes-ache,
loved salmon pink,
changed the blog's background,
started a blogroll,
I screamed like an old lady when Mimiri brought a mouse into the house and watched Richard rescue the mouse while I bit my fingernails with distress,
bought more yarn,
cooked a tasteless mushroom stir fry,
came late to my yoga class,
forgot a thousand things,
and I better stop now before I get overwhelmed!

Neon, neon, neon!

Hello lovely people! How are you doing today? I wanna show you my latest necklace, The Neon Dots Necklace....I have a bit of a neon osession lately...


¡Hola! ¿Cómo les trata la vida hoy? Yo quiero enseñarles mi último collar, el Collar de Lunares Neon (¿?).....Últimamente tengo una leve obsesión por los colores fosforescentes (neon).

The black part is crocheted with cotton yarn

La parte negra es crochet, y está hecha con hilaza de algodón.

And the dots are little neon pompons... :)!

¡Y los lunares son pequeños pompones fosforescentes.... :)!

I did some homemade pompons aswell, bigger ones, check out this tutorial to learn how...

También hice unos pompones caseros, más grandes, checa este tutorial para aprender cómo hacerlos...

Unfortunately the photos aren't the best, I'm hoping to change them soon...

Desgraciadamente las fotos no son muy buenas, espero cambiarlas pronto...

I've already made some more necklaces with other neon colors, and I'm making earings aswell...hope to take photos this week to show you.

Ya hice más collares de éstos con otros colores en los lunares, y estoy haciendo aretes también...espero tomar fotos esta semana para enseñarles.

Hello my friends! I'm super happy today, even though I had to get a blood test, which isn't a very pleasant activity.... But I'm thrilled to tell you this is my post # 50 !!
