Not everything is bitterness in this world....

Si ya estaba teniendo una semana enloquecida, terminó por culminar en desastre. Este domingo 1ero de julio hubo elecciones para presidente en nuestro país, con un proceso lleno de irregularidades, y un impresionante cerco mediático, los mexicanos vivimos, una vez más, un grotesco remedo de la democracia. No puedo expresarles mi frustración, así que no lo intentaré, mejor les dejo este artículo de The Guardian UK por si les interesa.

If I was having a crazy week already, it ended up in desaster. This sunday 1st of july we had president elections in our country, in a process filled with irregularites and an amazing media siege, the mexican peole lived, once again, a grotesque imitation of democracy. I can't express my frustration so I won't even try it, I leave you with this article of The Guardian UK if you're intrested.

Además mi blog es un espacio que me llena de alegría así que me curaré la depresión post-electoral diciéndoles que ¡no todo es amargura en este mundo! Para empezar, el domingo hubo futbol. España ganó la eurocopa, por lo menos hubo algo de emoción y festividad en esta casa porque el espíritu gallego y futbolero de Ricardo estaba a todo florecer y yo muy contenta empecé a tejer esto mientras el gritaba gooooooool una y otra vez.

Besides, my blog is a space that fills me with joy so I'm gonna cure my post-election depression by telling you that not everything is bitterness in this world!! To begin with this statement, sunday was soccer day. Spain won the eurocup and at least there was a bit of happiness and excitement in this house. Ricardo's Galician and soccerlover spirit was blooming, and I happily started crocheting this while he was screaming goooooooaaaal once and again.

I'm back!!

Hi there, lovely people! How's live treating you lately? I've been away for a looong time (2 weeks!), sorry bout that, I've been missing the blogland and you're comments a lot! But I have an excuse.... The first week, I injured my hand and couldn't wite in the computer, so no blogging...or crocheting!!! Can you imagine my frustration? But at the end it wasn't that bad since I used my way to much spare time to try out some new things I don't normally do, and you know what? I enjoyed it! Here's what I made in that first week...

¡Hola, hola a tod@s! ¿Como les trata la vida ultimamente? Yo he estado lejos del blog por mucho tiempo (2 semanas!), lo siento. ¡He extrañado el mundo bloguero y sus comentarios un montón! Pero tengo una excusa....La primer semana, me lastimé la mano y no podía escribir en la computadora, así que ni blog....¡¡ni crochet!! ¿Pueden imaginarse mi frustración? Pero bueno, al final no estuvo taan mal, pues usé mi excesivo tiempo libre para hacer algunas cosas nuevas que no suelo hacer. ¿Y saben qué? ¡Lo disfruté mucho! Aquí les muestro lo que hice en ésa primer semana...

1. I made this super easy handmade soap recipe by Fanny Harms. I read many other tutorials on how to do soap with the cold process before starting beacuse you have to use caustic lye and I had to be sure I wasn't doing something stupid!

1. Hice esta receta super fácil para hacer jabón casero de Fanny Harms. Leí varios tutoriales sobre cómo hacer jabón con el proceso frío antes de empezar porque hay que usar sosa caustica ¡y quería asegurarme de no hacer alguna estupidez!

2. I also made this extra quick citrus scrub by Adelyn Stone. Which turned out great and has made my skin a lot softer these days.

2. También hice este exfoliante super rápido de Adelyn Stone. Que por cierto salió muy bien y ha hecho mi piel más suave estos días.

3. And finally I did something I never do....Bake! I made this easy and yummy Apple cake recipe by Jutta of the Orgnized living solutions Blog. This was truely a surprise, it was delicious! I don't normally bake since I don't even have a propper oven, but I made this in my little toaster oven (which is the best toaster oven you can get, I've even made lasagna in there!) And I realized I really enjoy baking (specially if the result is in fact eatable, which I don't always achieve)

3. Por último, hice algo que nunca hago.....¡Hornear! Hice este fácil y rico pastel de manzana de Jutta del blog Organized living solutions. Éste sí que fue una sorpresa, ¡salió delicioso! Yo no suelo cocinar con mucho gusto, aunque lo hago, y mucho menos hornear porque ni siquiera tengo un horno de verdad. Pero hice esto en mi pequeño hornito tostador (que es el mejor hornito tostador que existe, ¡he hecho lasagna ahí!) Me dí cuenta que hacer pasteles me gusta mucho (especialmente si el resultado es de hecho comestible, lo que no siempre consigo.)

Ok, this was the first week, the second week I was running like crazy finishing the organization of the Wonders Market of this month, which took place this weekend. It was a bit difficult cause there's a big teachers strike and they're camping in the whole center of the city so walking round there is a true mess. This made it hard for some people  to come and see us this weekend, but still we had a good time, and our faithful custumers made it through the tents! :)

Ok, esto fue la primer semana, la segunda estuve corriendo como la loca para terminar con la organización del Mercado Maravillas de este mes, que fue el fin de semana. Fue un poco difícil porque hay una gran huelga de maestros (si estás en México, seguro has vito en las noticias) y están acampando en todo el centro de la ciudad, así que caminar por ahí es un verdadero desastre. Esto hice que fuera medio difícil para las personas ir a vernos, pero de cualquier modo la pasamos bien, y nuestros clientes más fieles fueron, ¡aún sorteando las tiendas de campaña! :)

¡Hola querid@s! ¿Cómo les fue el fin? El mío estuvo re bien, ¡hoy di un gran paso! ¡¡Por fin abrí mi tienda en Etsy!! Estoy muy feliz, había estado dándole vueltas a esto desde enero. Estoy orgullosa de que por fin estoy empezando. Sólo tengo 3 productos en la tienda por ahora...buu...pero espero poder subir más en la semana.

Hello my dears! How was your weekend? Mine ace, I took a big step today! I finally opened my Etsy shop!! I'm really happy, I've been thinking about it since january. I'm proud I'm finally doing it! I have only 3 items listed so far though, but I hope I'll add some more this week.

I didn't post these necklaces before so, what do you think? They're done with 100% cotton yarn, I like the randomness of the color combination in this one.

And more good news, I finished the new poster for this Wonders Market (Mercado Maravillas)!!

This time it'll be the 5th and 6th of may (next weekend!) In the Lobo Azul Cofee Shop from 10 am to 9 pm as every month :) So here it is....

Tengo que contarles que cuando decidí vender mis cosas de crochet y emepecé Caracol  en octubre, nunca me imaginé hasta dónde podría llegar. ¡Ahora, 7 meses después, estoy ayudando a organizar éste Mercado Maravillas, vendiendo en un mercadito orgánico los viernes y sábados que se llama el Pochote, y abriendo una tienda en Etsy! Todo empezó a fluir en esta dirección y ahora estoy dedicando la mayor parte de mi tiempo al ganchillo. No puedo creer lo rápido que está pasando todo, ¡¡pero estoy feliz!! Todavía no es como para vivir de ello, pero es un buen pasatiempo y me da ganancias. Además, hacerlo me emociona tanto que no me importa realmente lo que pase después :)

Bueno, tengo que irme ahora. ¡Que tengan un buen inicio de semana!

I must tell you, when I first decided to sell my crochet and started Caracol back in october, I never imagined how far it would go. Now, 7 months after, I'm helping organize this Wonders Market, selling in a little organic market called El Pochote fridays and sturdays, and opening an Etsy shop!! It all started to flow that way and now I'm dedicating most of my time to crochet. I can't believe how fast it's all happening but I'm  happy!!! It's still not enough  to make a living out of it, but it´s a nice proffiting hobby. Besides, doing it excites me so much that I don't really care what's happening next :)

Otro mes que se va volando /Another month that flies by

¡Mis quedirdisim@s! Estoy feliz a pesar de que tengo gripa y cansancio.... La segunda puesta del Mercado Maravillas salió muy bien, poco a poco vamos aprendiendo más sobre organizar este tipo de eventos, en la semana les compartiré algunas fotos....Por ahora, escribo este post rapidito...porque dicen que más vale tarde que nunca...les dejo con mi mosaico del mes de marzo, otro mes que se me fue volando.


My dearest! I'm happy though I've got a flu and I'm really tired...The second Wonders Market went fine!, we're learning how to do this kind of events little by little, I'll post some photos over the week...For now, I just write this quick post...they say better late than never...so I leave you with mi monthly mosaic for march, another month that flew by.

A shaky week! / ¡Una semana movida!

¡Hola a tod@s! Esta semana que pasó estuve un poco ausente pero es que fue una semana muy movida.

Antes que nada muchas gracias a quienes me mandaron correos o comentarios para preguntarme por el temblor...la verdad sí se sintió muy fuerte aquí en Oaxaca pero no hubo daños graves, al menos en la ciudad, en mi colonia no pasó nada...¡nada más nos dió un sustote!

Hi everyone! This last week I was absent but it's beacuse it was such a shaky week! First of all thank's to those who sent an email or comment asking about the eatrhquake....it did felt quite strongly here in Oaxaca but there was no serious damage, at least in the city, in my neighbourhood everything's ok....it just scared us a lot!

Entre la movida del piso, mi regreso a clases y la organización del Mercado Maravillas...l@s abandoné toda la semana. ¡Pero ahora les presento el cartel del siguiente Mercado Maravillas y la programación con mucho orgullo! La primavera está por llegar y yo  me estoy inspirando con las flores que empiezan a salir, con los colores, los pájaros...yel solecito de la mañana que pronto pasa a ser un pinche solazo para finalmente convertirse en un inmundo calor insoportable...

 Springtime's about to arrive and I'm getting inspired by the flowers that are blooming, colors, birds... and the morning sunshine that soon turns into a freakin burning sun to finaly become a damn unberable heat!

Pero bueno, ahora he hecho estos broches para el pelo con el patrón Puffy Daisy de Cécile de Eclectic Gipsyland, para disfrutar de los colores que marzo empieza a traer consigo....Quiero pedir una disculpa porque antes no había incluido el link al patrón de Cécile, siempre lo hago, pero esta vez se me pasó, perdón Cécile.

Finales y comienzos / Endings and beginnings

Febrero acaba...fue un mes lleno de locuras, crochet, amistades nacientes, nuevos comienzos, decisiones radicales, y hasta una estancia en el hospital. Fue un mes de enfermarse, de reconocer los errores, de cansancio, de rupturas.... pero también un mes de conciencia de uno mismo, de sanar, de soltar todo aquello que pesa y estorba, de agradecer a quienes te aman y están a tu lado, de nuevas amistades, de nuevos comienzos, de emprender proyectos.... El mes más corto del año se me hizo tan largo... pero me llenó de experiencias significativas.

February ends....it was a month full of madness, crochet, newborn friendships, new beginnings, radical decisions, and even a visit to the hospital. It was a month of getting ill, of recognizing  mistakes, of fatigue, of ruptures....but also a month of self awareness, of healing, of letting go all that weights too much and hinders, of thanking the ones who love you and support you, a month of new frienships, of new beginnings, of launching new proyects... The shortest month of the year seemed so long to me....but it filled me with meaningful experiences.

Para cerrar este mes, he decidido hacer un collage. He visto en otros blogs mosaicos mensuales, el último día publican un collage de fotos de los distintos posts del mes. Me he decidido a aventurarme en ésta práctica así que les comparto mi primer mosaico, así acaba febrero loco.

To end this month, I've decided to do a collage. I've seen in other blogs monthly mosaics, the last day of one posts a collage of photos of the diferent posts you wrote througout the month. I've decided to venture in this practice so I share with you my first mosaic, this is how february ends.

A pesar de todas las experiencias radicales, en el mosaico es colorido, con todo, logré mantener un ritmo de tejido, fue un mes menos productivo pero aún así me gustó todo lo que pude hacer, también hay algunos proyectos más que se hicieron y no han sido posteados aún...así que marzo viene lleno de inicios, y posts que escribir.

In spite of all the radical experiences, the mosaic is colorful, I somehow managed to keep a crochehing rhythm. It was not a very productive month but still, I liked everything that I did, there where also some proyects that were done but not posted....so march comes full of beginnings and posts to write.

Y como nada termina sin dar comienzo a algo nuevo.... les presento aquí el cartel del Mercado Maravillas (del que ya les había platicado en el post pasado) y que diseñé yo. ¿Les gusta? Por favor, tómense un momento para mirar el blog, es un proyecto que está naciendo, pero que está siendo creado con todo el amor y dedicación de 5 chicas amantes del diseño y las cosas hechas a mano. ¡Hemos logrado organizar esto en tan poquito tiempo, me parece que ya están todos los lugares ocupados!

And because nothing ends without making something start....I present you the poster of the Wonders Market (which I had mentioned in my last post) and which I designed. Do you like it? Please, take a minute to check out the blog (it's in spanish). It's a starting proyect, but it's being created with the love and dedication of 5 design & crafts lover girls. ¡We've managed to organize this in such a short time, I think all the places have already been taken!

Hola, primero que nada déjenme invitarl@s al Mercado Maravillas, un hermoso proyecto que se está cocinando. Es, más que nada, un espacio de creatividad, amistad y cariño, pero también una expoventa de diseño y artesanía que tendrá lugar el primer fin de cada mes en el Café Lobo Azul (Armenta y López esq. Guerrero, Col. Centro, Oaxaca), la primera será este 3 y 4 de marzo de 10 a 21 hrs. ¡Esperamos verlos ahí!

Hi! First of all, let me invite you to the Mercado Maravillas (Wonders Market), a bautiful proyect that is  building up. It is, more than anything, a space for creativity, frienship and love, but also a design and handicrafs showroom that'll take place the first weekend of every month in the Lobo Azul Coffee Shop, downtown in Oaxaca, Mexico. The first one will be this 3rd and 4th of march from 10 to 21 hrs. We hope to see you there!

Bueno, pasando a otra cosa, hace un tiempo ya hice una Agarradera "Ornamental" diseñada por Alice Best de Crochet with Raymond,, chequen el patrón, es muy bonito. me encanta esta chica porque tiene los mismos gustos coloridos que yo así que en seguida me puse a hacer el patrón y  me encantó el resultado, aunque hice algunos errores...De todos modos, ¡ahora es el objeto más preciado de la cocina!

Well, talking about something diferent, some time ago I made  an "Ornamental" Potholder designed by Alice Best from Crochet with Raymond , chek it out, it's such a beautiful design! I love this woman because she has the same colorful taste as me, so I started doing the pattern right away and loved the result, although I made some errors :P... still, it is the most trasured object in the kitchen now!
