New creation!

¡Hola! Espero que estén pasando un buen fin de semana. Mañana domingo es cumpleaños de Ricardo y yo estoy haciendo unos lindos DIYs que les compartiré en la semana que viene (incluida una receta...estoy cruzando los dedos para no cagarla echarla a perder esta vez) Bueno, ¡pero hoy quiero enseñarles una nueva creación!
Hello! I hope you're having a great weekend! Tomorrow is Ricardo's birthday and I'm doing some lovely DIY's I'll be sharing with you during the next week (including a recipe, i'm crossing my fingers not to screw it up)  But today, I have a new creation to show you!

El collar/cuello Corona. (Odio pensar siempre los nombres en inglés porque luego en español suenan tan tontos...bueno, creo que suenan igual de tontos en inglés jajaja)

The Crown Collar / Necklace (I hate that I always think the names in English first, cause then they sound completely dumm in Spanish...well, I guess they sound dumm in English aswell hahaha)

Está tejido con "Sinfonía", algodón 100% en color gris oscuro. ¡Cómo amo esa hilaza!

 Crocheted in 100% dark grey "Sinfonía" cotton yarn. I so love this yarn!

También está disponible en color Aqua.

A crazy week

Hasta ahora he tenido una semana enloquecida.

Entre otras cosas aprendí una técnica textil tradicional mexicana,
mandé MUCHOS mails,
fui a una reunión,
diseñé un cartel para un centro de yoga,
contacté a una bloguera,
tomé un café con una amiga,
compré un hermoso estambre de algodón que se enredó horriblemente y que me llevó HORAS ovillar,
empecé a tejer un coralito nuevo,
hice aretes,
seguí con la obsesión neon,
tomé fotos,
me dolieron las muñecas,
me dolió la espalda,
casi me dolieron hasta las pestañas,
amé el rosa salmón,
cambié el fondo del blog,
empecé un blogroll,
grité como doña cuando Mimiri metió un ratón a la casa y observé a Ricardo rescatar al ratón mientras yo me comía las uñas de angustia,
compré más estambre,
preparé un desabrido salteado de hogos,
llegué tarde a clase de yoga,
olvidé un millón de cosas,
y ya mejor no sigo ¡que me agobio!

I've been having a crazy week till now.


Among other things I learned a traditional weaving mexican technique,
I sent A LOT of emails,
went to a meeting,
designed a poster for a yoga studio,
contacted a blogger,
had a coffee with a friend,
bought a beautiful cotton yarn that got terribly entangled and took me HOURS to wind,
I started to crochet a little  new reef,
made some earings,
kept on with the neon obsession,
took photos,
got a wristache, 
got a backache,
almost got a lashes-ache,
loved salmon pink,
changed the blog's background,
started a blogroll,
I screamed like an old lady when Mimiri brought a mouse into the house and watched Richard rescue the mouse while I bit my fingernails with distress,
bought more yarn,
cooked a tasteless mushroom stir fry,
came late to my yoga class,
forgot a thousand things,
and I better stop now before I get overwhelmed!

Bueno, hoy les voy a enseñar algunos nuevos collares como prometí. Pero tengo que contarles que también estoy feliz porque mi Collar de bolitas (dinkdots) fue el link más visto en el pasado  Make Something Monday del blog Sarahndipities. ¡Yupii! :)

So here are the new necklaces and bracelets I've been doing. You saw this one in my recent post It rains! /¡Llueve! 

Bueno, aquí están los nuevos collares y pulseras que he estado haciendo. Ya vieron éste en mi reciente post It rains! /¡Llueve! 

Now here's another i cord necklace with a matching bracelet.

I like this combination a lot... it's salmon pink, purple and green cotton yarn.

Me gusta mucho la combinación...es salmón, morado y verde en estambre de algodón.

And then this bracelet....as you can see I had some i cord obession days...

Y luego está esta pulsera...como pueden ver tuve algunos días de obsesión por los i cords (no se como se diga esto en español...¿cable? ¿alguien sabe?)....

This was actualy the first one I made, i liked it and then I started doing all the rest.

En realidad esta pulsera fue lo primero que hice, me gustó y luego me puse a hacer el resto.

It closes with a little knotted button.

Se cierra con un pequeño botón de nudos.

And this is the last one.....I listed 2 more necklaces but they don't really fit into this series, they're not i cords, so I'll post them another day.

Y éste es el último.....Subí otros dos a la tienda pero no entran realmente dentro de esta serie, no son i cords (¿cables?), así que mejor los pongo otro día.

This one's a bit thinner than the other ones because I only used two yarns, yellow and dark grey.

Éste es un poquito más delgado que los otros porque usé sólo dos estambres, amarillo y gris oscuro.

I really enjoy doing these...it's simple and I love the way they turn out. They're all available in my shop now :)

Me gusta mucho hacer estos...es simple pero me encanta el resultado. Ya están todos disponibles en mi tienda :)

Oh, I'm already finding more ideas and tutorials for my next upcycling post! And I think I' must do a random DIY post for all the amazing tutorials I've been finding that are not related to upcycling....

My first lapghan / Mi primera manta

¡Hola a tod@s! ¿Como andan? Yo tuve una semana medio ocupada (abril ha estado loco)...¡pero hoy por fin tuve tiempo de tomar unas fotos y escribir! ¡Estoy feliz! He extrañado escribir más seguido, espero que la siguiente semana esté un poco más relajada.

Hello everybody! How you doing? I had a busy week (april has been a crazy month)...but today I finally got the time to take some pics and write! I'm so happy! I've been missing posting often, I hope next week will be a little bit more relaxed.

Hoy les quiero enseñar unas fotos de mi mantita en proceso, está creciendo muy poco a poquito pero me está gustando mucho, especialmente los colores. Ya les había enseñado mi inicio en este post. Es la primer manta que hago, normalmente hago proyectos más cortos, joyería y cosas así...pero sentí que ya era tiempo de que intentara una manta...

Today I wanna show you some photos of my lapghan process, it's been growing very slowly but I'm loving it, specially the colors. I showed you my start in this post. It's the first lapghan I make, I usally do quicker proyects,  jewelry and stuff like that...but it was time for me to try a lapghan...

Como podrán ver, mi manta aún está bastante pequeñita...Estoy uniendo los cuadrados en zig zag pero todavía no llego a la mitad, aún tengo que unir como 4 lineas más para empezar a decrecer el número de cuadritos.

As you can see my lapghan is still quite small... I'm doing a zig zag joining and I haven't reached the middle yet, I still need to join 4 more rows and then I'll start decreasing the number of squares.

Mimiri andaba por ahí así que esto terminó convirtiéndose en una sesión fotográfica gatuna también...

Mimiri was there, so it kinda became a cat photoshooting aswell...

A Mimiri parece que le gusta...estaba ahí muy agusto echadota junto a la manta....

Miren ese bostezo por favor!

Es un poco asustador, ¿no? Parece una pequeña gata vampiro con esos colmillos...¿Ya les había dicho que Ricardo le dice el gaturciélago o batcat? Dice que parece murciélago...Yo digo que está bien linda ¿no lo creen? No había aparecido en los posts ultimamente así que por favor aguanten mi lapsus de adoración al gato.

It's a bit frightening, isn't it? She looks like a little vampire cat with those teeth...have I told you that Ricardo calls her batcat? He says she looks like a bat....I think she looks lovely...doesn't she? She hadn't appeared in the blog lately so please bear with my cat worshiping lapsus.

Bueno, me tengo que ir. Por cierto la buena noticia de que haya estado ocupada esta semana es que alargué la rifa hasta el próximo martes 24, así que todavía pueden participar. Springtime's coming / Ya viene la primavera

La primavera está por llegar y yo  me estoy inspirando con las flores que empiezan a salir, con los colores, los pájaros...yel solecito de la mañana que pronto pasa a ser un pinche solazo para finalmente convertirse en un inmundo calor insoportable...

 Springtime's about to arrive and I'm getting inspired by the flowers that are blooming, colors, birds... and the morning sunshine that soon turns into a freakin burning sun to finaly become a damn unberable heat!

Pero bueno, ahora he hecho estos broches para el pelo con el patrón Puffy Daisy de Cécile de Eclectic Gipsyland, para disfrutar de los colores que marzo empieza a traer consigo....Quiero pedir una disculpa porque antes no había incluido el link al patrón de Cécile, siempre lo hago, pero esta vez se me pasó, perdón Cécile.

But well, now I've done these hair brooches with the pattern Puffy Daisy of Cécile from Eclectic Gipsyland to enjoy the colors that march is starting to bring...I want to apologize because I didn't put the link to Cécil's pattern before, I always do it but this time I forgot, sorry Cécile.

Another Neckwarmer/ Otro cuello más

Ya empezó febrero y yo sigo en la obsesión de los cuellos.. Éste en especial me encanta porque tiene muchas maneras de usarse.

La puntada se llama "ensalada de moras" o "moras" simplemente, me gustó mucho como quedó. Espero que a ustedes también. 

February started already and I'm still obsessed with cowls...I love this one in particular cause it has many ways to use it. The stitch is called Raspberry stitch, I liked the result a lot, I hope you do too.

Usé dos estambres de acrílico Madejón de la marca Eco Filati, me gusta bastante esta marca, apenas comencé a usarla y ya me encanta, me da muy buenos resultados, son muy suaves.

I used two acrylic Madejón Eco Filati Yarns...I like this brand, I just started using it but I already love it, the yarns are very soft.

Como les decía, tiene distintas formas de usarse y todas me gustan....este cuello aún esta disponible, es el único que me queda así que si alguien se apunta, ya saben que hago envíos a casi cualquier parte.

As I was saying, this cowl has many ways to wear it....It´s still available, it's the only one left as a matter of fact, so if anyone's intrested.... You know I do shippings to almost any place on earth.

Ahora un detalle de la puntada, también creo que le quedó muy bien el botón de madera. Bueno, ya estoy como mamá con sus hijos, no les encuentro ningún defecto a mis cosas...en realidad, a algunos sí, pero cuando algo me gusta como queda simplemente me enamoro frenéticamente.

Now here's a detail of the stitch, I think the wooden button was a good idea too. Ok, I'm like a mother with her baby, I can't find any defects on my stuff...well, I do actually, but when something turns out right I simply fall crazy in love.

Por cierto tengo que agradecer a mis amigas Alessandra de Bas Re-Design y Mari de MariPepa's, que me ayudaron con las fotos el otro día posando de modelos. En realidad nos divertimos mucho tomándonos fotos de nuestras respectivas cosas y modelando las unas para las otras. Chequen sus blogs, hacen unas cosas muy lindas MariPepa´s es un as del bordado y Bas Re-Design hace joyería con materiales reciclados.

By the way I have to thank my friends Alessandra from Bas Re-Design and Mari from MariPepa's, who helped me with these photos the other day. It was actually a lot of fun, we took pictures of one anothers's stuff and did a bit of modeling. You should check out their blogs, MariPepa´s is a great embroiderer and Bas Re-Design does jewelry out of upcycled materials.

Por cierto las tres vamos a estar en la expoventa Mano a Mano que se va a hacer este 11 y 12 de febrero en la Biblioteca Pública Central de Oaxaca. ¡Ojalá se den una vuelta, l@s esperamos!

The unfinished rug / La alfombra incompleta

Bueno, en diciembre entré a Ravelry y mi primer proyecto fue hacer una alfombra circular inspirada en un patrón del Sunroom Blog. Empecé a tejer y me emocioné tanto que a los dos días ya había hecho como el 60%...Fue entonces cuando me di cuenta de que no me iba a alcanzar el estambre (cha ca cha chaaan)...

Well, in december I entered Ravelry and my first project was a Circular Rug inspired by the parttern of a Circular Rag Rug from the Sunroom Blog...I started it and got pretty excited, two days later I had already done like a 60% when I noticed I was gonna run out of yarn....

Bueno empezaba a hiperventilarme y casi me da un ataque de nervios porque estaba tan clavada en hacer esta alfombra....Entonces me dije 'que no cunda el pánico....mañana te vas al centro y buscas el mismo estambre' (¡ingenua yo!). Digo, si estaba un poquito preocupada porque el estambre lo había comprado en la Ciudad de México pero es bastante común (eso pensaba...¡ja!) y creí que no tendría problemas para encontrar uno igual.

I started kinda hiperventilating and getting quite nervous about it cause I was so mind absorbed into doing this rug....But I said to myself; 'easy, there's no need to panic... tomorrow you'll just go downtown and look for the same yarn' (so naive!). I was a little worried cause I had bought the yarn in Mexico City , and I live in Oaxaca, which is a small city, but the yarn is very common (I thought) so I was sure I wouln't have any trouble finding it....

Pff...busqué en absolutamente todas las tiendas de estambres y telas de Oaxaca, en verdad ¡absolutamente todas! Nunca encontré el pinche estambre...es de la marca Red Heart...encontré varios estambres de esa marca, un montón, pero ese no.

Así tengo ahora este proyecto incompleto que me persigue... Hoy lo volví a ver y le tomé unas fotos. Me imagino que puedo encontrar el estambre en internet pero la verdad es que nunca he comprado estambres por internet así que no tengo idea de dónde buscarlo; si tienen alguna recomendación se los agradeceré mucho.

Pff...I looked in every single yarn and even fabric store in town, and I mean every single one of them! I couldn't find the freakin yarn.... it's a Red Heart yarn...I found several Red Heart yarns, a lot, but not this one.

So I have this unfinished project that haunts me...Today I saw it again and took some pictures. I guess I can find the yarn on the internet but to tell you the truth I've never done yarn shopping on the web and I don't know where to look...so if you have some recommendations or any tips on where to find it, I'll be very grateful.

Mimiri es por supuesto la más interesada en que termine la alfombra, aunque creo que no entendió muy bien para que sirve...¡De todos modos ella se la pasó muy bien mordiéndola y jugando con ella!

Mimiri, of course, is very interested in me finishing the rug, although I think she didn't quite get it's function...Still, she was having a great time biting it and playing wih it!
