Cheering me up!

Hey girls! Well, I'm just bursting with love today (maybe due to a couple of sales I made! I'm doing the sale dance right now!) 

¡Hola chicas! Pues el día de hoy estoy derrochando amor (tal vez tenga que ver con que hice un par de ventas, ¡estoy haciendo el sale dance ahora mismo, oh sí!)

The thing is....I read all your lovely comments each day and you can't imagine how they cheer me up! I just wanted to thank you for that; I have the best blog readers ever!! It's true you know, trying to make a craft business requires lots of courage and hard work. Some days I just feel like quitting, I start having negative thoughts and a general shitty feeling to be honest. But then, when someone new likes my facebook page (I'm about to reach 300 now!), when someone favorites the shop, I feel I must be doing something right, at least something! But nothing makes me feel happier than blog comments. Realizing you take a moment of your time to actually write something nice to me or tell me your opinion on anything makes me feel so good...It’s simply great, nothing beats that and you all fellow bloggers know what I mean. So, THANK YOU!!

Bueno, la cosa es que leo sus comentarios cada día y no se imaginan cuánto ánimo me dan! Sólo quería agradecerles por esto, ¡tengo las mejores lectoras del mundo! La verdad, tratar de hacer un negocio de un hobby como tejer requiere de mucho valor y trabajo duro. Hay días que simplemente quiero tirar la toalla, empiezo a tener pensamientos negativos y en general me siento como caca para ser honesta jaja. Pero luego cuando tengo un nuevo like en la página de facebook (¡que ya va casi por los 300!), cuando alguien le da corazoncito a mi tienda, entonces siento que debo estar haciendo algo bien, ¡al menos algo! Pero nada, nada me da más alegría que los comentarios en el blog. El hecho de que se tomen un momento de su tiempo para decirme algo lindo o darme su opinión simplemente se siente taan bien...es genial, nada le gana y ustedes las blogueras saben de qué hablo. Así que ¡¡¡GRACIAS!!!

A crazy week

Hasta ahora he tenido una semana enloquecida.

Entre otras cosas aprendí una técnica textil tradicional mexicana,
mandé MUCHOS mails,
fui a una reunión,
diseñé un cartel para un centro de yoga,
contacté a una bloguera,
tomé un café con una amiga,
compré un hermoso estambre de algodón que se enredó horriblemente y que me llevó HORAS ovillar,
empecé a tejer un coralito nuevo,
hice aretes,
seguí con la obsesión neon,
tomé fotos,
me dolieron las muñecas,
me dolió la espalda,
casi me dolieron hasta las pestañas,
amé el rosa salmón,
cambié el fondo del blog,
empecé un blogroll,
grité como doña cuando Mimiri metió un ratón a la casa y observé a Ricardo rescatar al ratón mientras yo me comía las uñas de angustia,
compré más estambre,
preparé un desabrido salteado de hogos,
llegué tarde a clase de yoga,
olvidé un millón de cosas,
y ya mejor no sigo ¡que me agobio!

I've been having a crazy week till now.


Among other things I learned a traditional weaving mexican technique,
I sent A LOT of emails,
went to a meeting,
designed a poster for a yoga studio,
contacted a blogger,
had a coffee with a friend,
bought a beautiful cotton yarn that got terribly entangled and took me HOURS to wind,
I started to crochet a little  new reef,
made some earings,
kept on with the neon obsession,
took photos,
got a wristache, 
got a backache,
almost got a lashes-ache,
loved salmon pink,
changed the blog's background,
started a blogroll,
I screamed like an old lady when Mimiri brought a mouse into the house and watched Richard rescue the mouse while I bit my fingernails with distress,
bought more yarn,
cooked a tasteless mushroom stir fry,
came late to my yoga class,
forgot a thousand things,
and I better stop now before I get overwhelmed!

Estaba sorprendida y feliz cuando vi su nombre, es una querida y vieja amiga, ¡nos conocimos en la prepa! Ella vive en otro estado así que ya no nos vemos muy seguido, no nos hemos visto como en año y medio más o menos. Así que mi pequeño regalito se va volando hasta Cancún. :)

I was surprised and happy when I saw her name, she's a dear and old friend, we met in high school! She lives in another state so we don't see each other a lot anymore, we haven't seen each other in a year and a half more or less. So, my little present is flying all the way to Cancun. :)

Bueno, me voy, ¡tengo que servir mi pasta! ¡¡Que tengan un buen día!!

My first lapghan / Mi primera manta

¡Hola a tod@s! ¿Como andan? Yo tuve una semana medio ocupada (abril ha estado loco)...¡pero hoy por fin tuve tiempo de tomar unas fotos y escribir! ¡Estoy feliz! He extrañado escribir más seguido, espero que la siguiente semana esté un poco más relajada.

Hello everybody! How you doing? I had a busy week (april has been a crazy month)...but today I finally got the time to take some pics and write! I'm so happy! I've been missing posting often, I hope next week will be a little bit more relaxed.

Hoy les quiero enseñar unas fotos de mi mantita en proceso, está creciendo muy poco a poquito pero me está gustando mucho, especialmente los colores. Ya les había enseñado mi inicio en este post. Es la primer manta que hago, normalmente hago proyectos más cortos, joyería y cosas así...pero sentí que ya era tiempo de que intentara una manta...

Today I wanna show you some photos of my lapghan process, it's been growing very slowly but I'm loving it, specially the colors. I showed you my start in this post. It's the first lapghan I make, I usally do quicker proyects,  jewelry and stuff like that...but it was time for me to try a lapghan...

Como podrán ver, mi manta aún está bastante pequeñita...Estoy uniendo los cuadrados en zig zag pero todavía no llego a la mitad, aún tengo que unir como 4 lineas más para empezar a decrecer el número de cuadritos.

As you can see my lapghan is still quite small... I'm doing a zig zag joining and I haven't reached the middle yet, I still need to join 4 more rows and then I'll start decreasing the number of squares.

Mimiri andaba por ahí así que esto terminó convirtiéndose en una sesión fotográfica gatuna también...

Mimiri was there, so it kinda became a cat photoshooting aswell...

A Mimiri parece que le gusta...estaba ahí muy agusto echadota junto a la manta....

Miren ese bostezo por favor!

Mimiri seems to like it...she was very pleased lying there next to the lapghan...

Look at that yawning please! 

Es un poco asustador, ¿no? Parece una pequeña gata vampiro con esos colmillos...¿Ya les había dicho que Ricardo le dice el gaturciélago o batcat? Dice que parece murciélago...Yo digo que está bien linda ¿no lo creen? No había aparecido en los posts ultimamente así que por favor aguanten mi lapsus de adoración al gato.

It's a bit frightening, isn't it? She looks like a little vampire cat with those teeth...have I told you that Ricardo calls her batcat? He says she looks like a bat....I think she looks lovely...doesn't she? She hadn't appeared in the blog lately so please bear with my cat worshiping lapsus.

Bueno, me tengo que ir. Por cierto la buena noticia de que haya estado ocupada esta semana es que alargué la rifa hasta el próximo martes 24, así que todavía pueden participar. Embroidery happiness/ Felicidad de bordado

Hi there!! I'm so happy! Today I recieved my embroidery swap from the Wild Olive Stitch Swap!!! I really find it amazing that so many people just stitched something for a complete stranger and mailed it to wherever that stranger lives....I'm glad I finally recieved mine...and guess what...it's Mimiri inspired...THANK YOU ELLYN!

Ahora cuelga en la esquina especial donde a Mimiri le gusta dormir...tiene una canasta calientita y esas son las paredes oficiales de la casa para el "amor al gato"...¡Me gusta tanto mi intercambio! Se siente bonito recibir algo que fue especialmente hecho para ti...además amo el correo tradicional.

It now hangs in the special corner where Mimiri likes to sleep...she has a cozy basket and those are the official cat love walls at home...I like my swap so much!! It's a lovely feeling to recieve something made specially for you, besides... I really love traditional mail.

Por cierto ya nunca les enseñé como se fue finalmente el mío...Aquí está...envié un dulce mexicano también.

By the way I never showed you how mine finally went off... This is it....I sent a mexican candy too! 

Ay estoy impaciente por saber si llegó sano y salvo a su destino...espero que la chica que me tocó suba una foto en nuestro grupo de flickr....Lo envié desde el 21 o algo así, yo creo que ya llegó...

Oh I'm impatient to know if it arrived savely at it's destination...hope my swapie posts a pic in our flickr pool... I sent it since the 21st or something like that so I think it arrived already...

A Granny a day/ Un Granny al día

Para intensificar mi ya de por sí abrumadora y compulsiva producción de crochet; me uní a un grupo en Ravelry llamado Un Granny al día 2012....El grupo tiene hasta el momento 95 personas; uy es muy reconfortante saber que hay al menos otras 94 personas seriamente obsesionadas como para tejer un granny square (cuadrado de abuelita) al día durante todo un año...Me siento como pez en el agua... Aquí está mi primero.

To enhance my already overwhelming and compulsive crocheting, I entered a Ravelry group called A Granny a day 2012...The group has 95 members till now; it's very recomforting to know there are at least other 94 severely obsessed people who are willing to crochet a granny square per day for a whole year...I'm in my element...Here is my firt one...

Empecé con febrero así que todavía tengo pocos cuadritos...al principio quería emparejarme con enero pero creo que es demasiado...tal vez lo haga después, uno nunca sabe hasta dónde lo puede llevar la compulsión. Por ahora ya tengo mis primeros 6 cuadritos...

I started on februray so I'm still a bit short on grannys...at first I wanted to catch up with january but soon I realised it would be to much....maybe i'll do it later, who knows where compulsiveness might take you. For now I have my first 6 granny squares...

Todavía no se que hacer con ellos, primero pensaba en una cobija pero después se me ocurrieron unos cojines, no se, me decidiré pronto, espero, para poder empezar a unirlos...

I still don´t know what I'll do with them, at first I thought of an afghan but then I was thinking maybe some cushions....I don't know, I'll figure it out soon I hope, so I can start joining them..

Bueno, es hora de que me vaya, mi codependiente gata necesita ser alimentada...por cierto les manda saludos!

The unfinished rug / La alfombra incompleta

Bueno, en diciembre entré a Ravelry y mi primer proyecto fue hacer una alfombra circular inspirada en un patrón del Sunroom Blog. Empecé a tejer y me emocioné tanto que a los dos días ya había hecho como el 60%...Fue entonces cuando me di cuenta de que no me iba a alcanzar el estambre (cha ca cha chaaan)...

Well, in december I entered Ravelry and my first project was a Circular Rug inspired by the parttern of a Circular Rag Rug from the Sunroom Blog...I started it and got pretty excited, two days later I had already done like a 60% when I noticed I was gonna run out of yarn....

Bueno empezaba a hiperventilarme y casi me da un ataque de nervios porque estaba tan clavada en hacer esta alfombra....Entonces me dije 'que no cunda el pánico....mañana te vas al centro y buscas el mismo estambre' (¡ingenua yo!). Digo, si estaba un poquito preocupada porque el estambre lo había comprado en la Ciudad de México pero es bastante común (eso pensaba...¡ja!) y creí que no tendría problemas para encontrar uno igual.

I started kinda hiperventilating and getting quite nervous about it cause I was so mind absorbed into doing this rug....But I said to myself; 'easy, there's no need to panic... tomorrow you'll just go downtown and look for the same yarn' (so naive!). I was a little worried cause I had bought the yarn in Mexico City , and I live in Oaxaca, which is a small city, but the yarn is very common (I thought) so I was sure I wouln't have any trouble finding it....

Pff...busqué en absolutamente todas las tiendas de estambres y telas de Oaxaca, en verdad ¡absolutamente todas! Nunca encontré el pinche estambre...es de la marca Red Heart...encontré varios estambres de esa marca, un montón, pero ese no.

Así tengo ahora este proyecto incompleto que me persigue... Hoy lo volví a ver y le tomé unas fotos. Me imagino que puedo encontrar el estambre en internet pero la verdad es que nunca he comprado estambres por internet así que no tengo idea de dónde buscarlo; si tienen alguna recomendación se los agradeceré mucho.

Pff...I looked in every single yarn and even fabric store in town, and I mean every single one of them! I couldn't find the freakin yarn.... it's a Red Heart yarn...I found several Red Heart yarns, a lot, but not this one.

So I have this unfinished project that haunts me...Today I saw it again and took some pictures. I guess I can find the yarn on the internet but to tell you the truth I've never done yarn shopping on the web and I don't know where to look...so if you have some recommendations or any tips on where to find it, I'll be very grateful.

Mimiri es por supuesto la más interesada en que termine la alfombra, aunque creo que no entendió muy bien para que sirve...¡De todos modos ella se la pasó muy bien mordiéndola y jugando con ella!

Mimiri, of course, is very interested in me finishing the rug, although I think she didn't quite get it's function...Still, she was having a great time biting it and playing wih it!
